  • Topiaries planted with creeping fig love heat and humidity.  Therefore they do suffer when drought or freezing temperatures take over.  In fact, creeping fig does not seem very forgiving, once it has already suffered.  So, if you live with a winter climate where temperatures often dip below freezing, or stay there, your topiary will prefer to  be brought indoors through that season.

  • We have a wonderful customer, Pat Hammer of Samia Rose Topiary,  who has put together terrific hints about getting rid of insects or fungus if they exist.  Here, also, she gives advice on how to avoid them.  Link to her page on bugs:  www.srtopiary.com

  • If you prefer to plant your own topiary,  or train up an already existing plant to our form, you surely can order a topiary that is only stuffed with sphagnum.  We'll discount your purchase 5%.

  • Topiaries can always be replanted if your vine dies.  However, if a fungus is the culprit, you will want to apply a fungicide to the stuffed moss, prior to replanting.
An insecticide will not hurt the life of your topiary, when applied according to the directions.

Remove the old vine and roots.  Soak the topiary, to soften the moss, and make it malleable.  Create a well to take the new vine and its roots.  Plant the new plant (with a "little" soil attached to roots) within the well, and use new, or old sphagnum to cover the planting.   Train the vine in the directions it should go, using greening pins.   I'd even mist the plant to give it a boost.  Voila!
